As we approach the end of the Making Tax Digital for VAT (MTD) soft landing period, now is a pertinent time to reflect on how far we have travelled on our MTD journey and where we are headed next. We will also try and set out some key information as what dispensations HMRC have allowed during the ‘soft landing period’ which will be removed following 1 April 2020.

Family-owned single malt whisky specialist Gordon & MacPhail has appointed Cooper Software to implement new business systems as part of a significant investment in its future growth.
Starting in early 2020, the Fife-based enterprise software specialists will work to replace an array of legacy systems with one unified enterprise resource planning platform – IFS Applications 10. With a scheduled handover and go-live date in early 2021, this swift implementation project will ensure a quick return on Gordon & MacPhail’s investment – reducing costs, boosting efficiency and, ultimately, better serving their customers’ needs. By streamlining processes linking sales demand to production, procurement and stock management processes, the system is projected to deliver significant savings.
To support their continued growth and increase manufacturing capacity, Eminox had invested in replacement machine automation on their shop-floor by introducing two of the most advanced TRUMPF laser cuttingmachines. The machines would cut the various parts required to build exhaust after-treatment systems components out of sheet metal. One machine was a newflatbed laser to cut flat-sheet materials while the other was a tube laser, whichwould manage tube processing and 3D tube construction. Both machines would run TruTops control software which can manage everything from part design and data import to nesting. TruTops would analyse the parts that you want to nest,and, by using computer algorithms, would fit as many cutting patterns inside

The 17th edition of the Homeless World Cup will take place in Cardiff’s iconic Bute Park, in the heart of the Welsh capital, from 27th July until 3rd August. Following the introduction of HMRC’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) legislation on 1st April 2019, Cooper Software has seen a number of our IFS customers successfully submit their firstVAT return digitally using our MTD solution. To date, we have carried out several installations of our cloud-based MTD solution to enable our IFS customers to send their VAT return digitally to HMRC. The installations have covered customers who are using IFS Applications 7, through to IFS Applications 10.
