Getting Started with PRISM.

PRISM converts the bulk of a report, then leaves a defined set of follow-up tasks for review, such as remapping unsupported fields, adjusting layouts and formulas, and resetting date or number formats. The output is a close approximation of the original, not a strict one-to-one copy, due to differences between the two reporting frameworks.

The recommended first step is a Cooper Software reporting audit, giving you a full inventory of your Crystal Reports, a criticality and complexity assessment for each, and a recommended reporting strategy. For managed service customers, much of this can be done remotely using existing access.

What is PRISM?

When is Crystal Reports being removed from IFS Cloud?

Crystal Reports is removed from IFS Cloud in Service Release 26R2, due towards the end of 2026. IFS Cloud 26R1 is the last supported release.

What happens if we don't move before the deadline?

You can hold at IFS Cloud 26R1 until it becomes unsupported at 28R1, but that means up to two years with no new IFS functionality, no bug fixes and no improvements.

Does PRISM convert Quick Reports as well as Operational Reports?

Yes. PRISM converts Quick Report data sources into IFS Query Designer queries automatically, with each converted query linked back to its matching Report Studio report. Cooper Software is currently the only partner offering this.

Will a converted report look exactly like the original?

PRISM gives a close approximation of the original report, not a strict one-to-one copy, because Crystal Reports and IFS Report Studio are different reporting frameworks. Some manual follow-up, such as remapping fields or adjusting formulas, is typically needed.

How many Crystal Reports do most organisations have to convert?

It varies considerably. Cooper Software has seen customers with fewer than five reports and others managing well over two hundred. Organisations with 1 to 10 reports have the most flexibility on timing, those with 10 to 50 should start their assessment now, and those with 50 or more should treat the migration as a project in its own right.
